Sweet Potato Council The United States Sweet Potato Council is the advocate for the economic well-being of U.S. sweet potato growers.

The Council is a voluntary organization. Its financial support comes from dues paid by state organizations, from Associate Membership dues, and individual sponsorships.

U.S. sweet potato growers and the entire U.S. Sweet Potato Industry benefit directly and indirectly from the activities of the Council. The Council supports the Industry by:
  • Implementing reasonably priced promotion activities
  • Monitoring federal issues affecting the growers' ability to produce efficiently
  • Lobbying key Congressmen and federal staff on federal issues important to growers
  • Provide a forum for bringing together, on a national level, growers and issues of diverse regions

*** Fresh sweet potatoes (U.S. grown, orange flesh varieties) have been certified by the American Heart Association (AHA) to be low in saturated fat and cholesterol. Now, opportunity exists for Council members to use American Heart Association's heart-check mark in their promotions. ***
